Say A Little Prayer

Kakak is sick again.

The kids spent half an hour cycling around on Saturday evening. After the ride, kakak's temperature shot right up. We fed her the usual meds and she's her normal self soon after.

On Sunday, we went to see The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian at KLCC and without a sign, her temperature went up again. She braved through the whole 2 hours with adik's jacket clad tightly to her long sleeve shirt.

It was almost 7pm when we left KLCC. We wanted to initially head back home but she craved Starbucks coffee and didn't mind getting a bite for dinner.

We headed to Alpha Angle for a quick bite and coffee. A venti latte seemed to do her good. She was laughing her way though dinner. A bowl of mushroom soup, more like it, while the rest of us downed chicken and pizza.

Today the kids did their revision for midterm exams (the whole of this week). Nobody complained, much to our surprise. They managed to answer almost all of the questions we threw on studies of Arabic language.

Everything was peachy. So far, it's a great day for all of us.

Later in the afternoon, all of us did our bit in making sure that my car shines its natural color. It has been donning paw prints and 2 inch of dust for quite a while. The kids continued on with their bicycles after that while Deli and I tended the plants while watching Kechik taking a stroll around the yard.

So far, so good.

We were off to Carrefour later in the evening for groceries and dinner. That was when her temperature shot up again. We went home straight after and took care of kakak immediately.

We're very worried. She can't miss school this week. She has midterm exams for both her primary and religious classes. Then again, I guess if she's really sick, we'll need to talk to her teacher about the exams.

On the other hand, she's been sick quite often lately. Her temperature roler-coastered for a couple of days. We need to see a paediatrician and maybe run some tests on her.

I need to call Dr. Patrick and schedule for an appointment later this week.
Please pray that kakak will be okay.

A Series of Events

Yesterday was quite a day.

I was on half day leave and was supposed to report back to work in the afternoon. Left the house before noon – just in time for lunch with the guys. Sadly, my usual parking place was completely full. Drove on to the Weld and spent half a freaking hour looking for a spot. There was none. Nada.

Exited the Weld and decided to try I*G visitor parking. There’s only around a dozen parking spots for visitors in total. It was almost 1pm and it was yes, full. The last choice I had was to park at MPL. I found a spot – thank God! Cost me $13 for the 4 hours service. Urgh!

Had lunch with Fah and Dol at MacDonald’s. Thank God for great, entertaining friends!

As if the whole series of unfortunate events were not enough, I had to endure terrible traffic in the evening. Left the office around 6pm and reached home 1.5 hours later. Such a tiring day. I might as well take the whole day off. Bladihel.

I guess God has plans of his own. Even for me.

When I got home, adik complained about his thumb. It was a bit reddish when he showed it to me. I promised to attend to it after my bath. While walking to the bathroom, I heard him said – ‘Mummy, my mother finger sakit!’

Laughed my hearts out. So did adik and kakak. I immediately relay the news to Deli (he was on the road, guiding Along and abang to Matrade for Mihas exhibition). We laughed and laughed and all seemed to be better. The series of unfortunate events or the fact that I wanted nothing more than a hot bath couldn’t top this. I felt lighter. Spirit and body weight. Haha.

Llaughter is the best medicine.

On a lighter note, Kakak told me that she was given 2 prizes during their morning assembly at school. One was for the highest marks in English (she had perfect scores) and the other was for second place for Science (97%, I think) for the whole of primary 2. It was for their tests last March.

We are so proud of her.

Adik was inspired as well and did his revisions without being asked. Good boy!

Nothing beats the news. Not even the series of unfortunate events earlier on.

God is undeniably fair. You just have to stop worrying about petty things and focus more on significant ones. Like your life.

p/s: Happy birthday to my boss!

Restless & Demonata

I feel suffocated.

The more I think about it, the more restless I become.

I try not to think about it too much. I keep telling myself to just go with the flow. Do not plan and hope too much. But the stubborn me just refused to take it easy no matter how. And seriously, going with the flow is easier said than done.

I need a plan. A game plan.

Oh before I forget, thanks to Lara for mentioning Darren Shan’s books.

I wanted to get the first book (Cirque du Freak) in the The Saga series but couldn’t find it. Found the set of books 1 to 6 in MPH but I dare not buy them. Not just yet. At least until I’ve read Cirque du Freak.

Then I saw the Demonata series but still no first book. Darn.

I couldn’t leave MPH without getting a book now, can I?

So I bought book 2 in Demonata series – Demon Thief. Managed to read chapter 1 last night and it was not bad. Can’t wait to read the next chapters!

I’m still looking for A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini.

Good books, like good friends are just hard to find.
